[AccessD] RAGS Risk Assessment for CERCLA

Dear Group:

I have been tasked with developing an Access 2000 app that will be used to
determine the 'risk' posed by various chemical contaminants at superfund
(CERCLA) sites. The statistical W-test app I am working on (thread a month
or two ago) will be used in this app. Currently the risk assessment staff in
our company follows the procedures outlined in the EPA documents: Risk
Assessment Guidance for Superfund (RAGS) and uses an 'Excel Spreadsheet
System.' Each risk assessment for human health and environment performed is
done so in a manner that is specific to the site that is being examined.
However, the "process" is always the same (see RAGS) so one should be able
to develop an app (or template) where a user picks (values for) the input
variables (there are a zillion) press a few buttons and generate the many
tables required to show how much risk is present. There are two classes of
input variables - physical and chemical; and each has 3 to 10 different
sources of where that info comes from.

I have sat down and put pencil to paper in an effort to determine what will
be the easiest and most logical way to set up all the calculations and
display all the results. However, there are a number a sources for the
input information. What I am struggling with is how do I set this up so
that a user may select which input variables will be used. Currently there
are about 10 tables with 15-20 variables that may be used.

My questions for the group is:

Has anyone done any database calculation work for risk assessment (SLRE or
BHHRA using RAGS)?

Could I bounce some of the ideas I had for schemes to store/select/use input
variables?
