If they are already your client then you should not owe finder fee. By
definition the finder fee is to get you in the door.

Christopher,

I have a nephew named Christopher. When he was born I suggested to his
father (my brother) that we nickname him "Tougher." Sorry...

>> I offer 5%. 10% and up just seems like you're giving away too much.
If you want to give discounts that deep, give them to firms that have
referred you several jobs already. <<

A very pertinent marketing point. Is it better to offer discounts to gain
new clients or to encourage existing clients to do more business with you?
As we don't have any firms that have referred any jobs to us we can't use
that angle. I've made a discount proposal to my largest client but they're
putting a moratorium on the use of third-party consultants for the time
being.

I'll report back on our negotiations. I guess that just drawing up a
contract would take some time. I can certainly use your real-life experience
of offering 5% as a bargaining chip for lower fees.

You just made me aware of an additional point for negotiations, though: what
if we land a job with a client we've already done work for that happens to
be a client of the staffing firm? Hmmm.

Thanks a lot.
