Just a little remark.

If your customer is still gonna use the access front end, your web
server gonna need to be located at the customers site for simultaneous
access from local and internet network.

Unless you use synchronisation techniques (which I don't like due to
complexity developing apps).

My client wants to pursue this further.  We are looking at solutions,
and 
the implementation of them.  This would include the maintenance of the 
server, database, and website.  Not sure if this discussion is best kept
in 
the list or private (any moderators like to comment?).
