[AccessD] Text Box Exit Function

Me!fieldname doesn't have a value yet -- are you sure you don't mean
Me!controlname?

I am trying to validate the data in a field when the user exits the field.
When I use the field's name (me!fieldname) its value is null even though I
have entered something into it.  Does anyone know how I get the current
value of the text box that I just entered the data into?
