Martin,

I've done it a few times in the (distant) past and found the process 
'relatively' painless. 

Biggest issue I had was ensuring the datatypes were compatible...as I 
recall I had an issue with the Access curreny type but it was easily 
sorted.

Agree with Jim, that it's worth manually transferring any complex queries 
as you'll tend to get problems with those, and I think you'll also get 
issues if you try to upgrade crosstab queries.
