Wild guess...Could you loop through the affected controls and
"DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSendToBack"?

Dan,

    If the circle is drawn in Page event of the report, it appears on top of
everything. 

    If for any reason, you have to do it in the detail event , you might
consider setting the back style of various controls in this section to
transparent (till a better solution is found).

  I'm using the circle method on a report, but the problem I'm having is
that the circle appears to always be drawn behind any other object, where I
need it to be on top. 

  I looked at the DrawMode property, and it looks like setting 1 might do
the trick, but I can't get this to work.  Has anyone gotten DrawMode to work
with a circle?
