As far as I know, the only 'options' you have with a SELECT statement is the AS keyword. ie, you can say SELECT MyField AS SomeOtherName FROM tblMyTable. That would create a field called MyField, which would be the 'caption' of a field. Not sure what you are actually trying to do though, so if you explain what you are trying to accomplish, I may be able to help a little more.
