Hi Reuben You are right, but in this case the field is linked to a lookup table. To make it 'easy', I have a field with the information I want to appear in the new lookup field. The lookup field's data type is Number. The information's data type is text, because it is text. It seems the only way is to update it all by hand because I can't change the data types ... I have retained old fields with data so I can update the new look-up fields quickly. For example, Hostel records into UnitID via an update query to save doing hundreds by hand. Only ...
