[AccessD] SQL and Access

Yes, you are basically replacing the copy on the web server so any changes
in that database that occur from the time you open the local copy then save
it back to the server are lost. This works for me but I don't think is
appropriate for a heavy traffic site.

Jim - this sounds interesting. So do you lose details when you replace the
mdb? Or is there some replication?

I don't think so. It makes the web folders appear in windows explorer so
you
can copy files, etc.. I think what it is actually doing is ftping a copy
of
the file (such as the mdb) to your computer and ftping it back once you
close Access. This works fine for me since my site is not high traffic but
is NOT the same as a true FE-BE setup.(I actually had my data, queries etc
all in the web DB so I wasn't using a FE-BE setup. The problem this
creates,
of course, is you lose any changes to the web database (such as a new
retail
order!) when your copy of the mdb is copied back to the web and overwrites
the "old" copy. Someone more technical might jump in here and give a
clearer
  explanation of how webdrive works.

   Jim,

Saw your response and am interested in Webdrive. Does it allow you to
connect a FE to your web database?
