OK, browsed a little and this which ran in Australia 2001 seems to hold the record - with 682 wagons and 7.353 km long:

Well, not Friday but still weekend, and if you need a 10½ minutes break during the weekend duties, relax here and count:

It's a footage of a drive-by of presumable the longest train ever recorded - 18.000 feet or about 5.5 km long driven by 3+2+2+2 engines and counting about 300 cars.
The location is the Yuma Subdivision at Fingal in sunny California.
