[AccessD] OT - FW: New computer

Hi Rocky,

This is a site for people who want a 'silent' PC.
http://www.silentpcreview.com/article26-page1.html

When I first put together my PC, I thought it was loud. The case I bought
cost about $60 so the fans were really cheap. I bought two Noctua brand
fans ($20 each), and now I only notice the noise my PC was making when I
turn it off. It's really that quiet.

I also found that having airflow going from front to back through the case
is the best cooling strategy. With that the fans don't run as much or as
fast. Be sure you do not have a processor cooler that has a fan which blows
air across the case instead of from front to back (this was what the stock
cooler that came with my quad-core processor). If one fan blows one
direction and another blows crosswise they'll end up fighting each other and
a warmer and noisier PC is the result. If your PC comes with a fan like
that, you can get a replacement for ~$40.

Thanks. I don't want to hear a peep out of my comp. So I'll probably try
to pay a little more and get higher quality components. Dell has been so
rock solid reliable for me and easy to buy, I will for sure check out their
configurator. But you never know what's on sale at Fry's. So a trip there
is in order.

Machine #2 for Noah will need real good graphics. He's gaming now with his
friends on-line. So integrated graphics may not do it for him.

This system gets its low price from using an integrated graphics card and a
low end chipset. It has a reasonably powerful quad core processor and lots
of ram. For gaming it will *require* an addin graphics card. Other than
that it is powerful enough to last awhile.

For a hundred more I would go with this one:

ZT Windows 7 Pro Desktop AMD Six-core Processor

Buying new now I would go for the Intel i7.

ZT Windows 7 Pro Desktop Intel Core i7-2600 Processor Item # 583919

It is *much* faster. This is the latest and greatest from Intel, quad core
with hperthreading.
Probably the best out there for a few months.
