Just a note: Java is still one of the largest language bases and one of the
most used programs out there. Google, Amazon, Facebook, Oracle and on and
on. Even Microsoft's .Net languages owe much of their design to Java.

Interestingly Java's J2EE was supposed to solve this problem.
I don't' think it ever got that much traction due to it's complexity.
