Hmm ... I just tried with A2013 and it seems not to be sticky. Press F8 and you select word/field/record and vice-versa with Shift+F8.
I recall it as sticky but haven't used/tried it for years, so perhaps I've just seen a persistent bug.

Do you mean when you're not in break mode, Gustav?  I've seen the behavior on occasion but never found a connection to F8.
