[dba-SQLServer] Can a SP return a varchar using ADO

Good Morning Everyone

Can you please let me know if a Stored Procedure using ADO can return a
VARCHAR?
I can't get beyond the append parameter line in my code trying to send the
output to be a varchar and have spent hours already, should I give up
because it can't be done?
