That's the main reason why Monty has started a new fork of the original MySQL. I think that I'm going to drop MySQL and stick with Monty. He is determined to keep his fork open, and also promises to stay abreast of MySQL version to version. His new version is called Mariadb (he likes to name his software after his daughters).
