Apologies if it's not quite what you're looking for...

In Word 2000:
Right click a toolbar; from the menu, choose Customize,
Click the Keyboard... button,
 From the Categories list choose Styles,
Choose your style from the Styles list,
Click into "Press new shortcut key"
Choose key combination,
Click Assign
