Its also good for PC that won't boot because of a virus, etc. Hook it up and
scan it from one that's protected.

I Agree. 

I picked up a nice little unit earlier this year that it an interface
between USB2 and IDE so that I can just plug the hard drive in and don't
even need to disassemble the PCs. Just take the cover off the one and plug
the cable in. Great time saver.
