[dba-Tech] modem/router

I know how you feel I have never been able to connect microwaves,
refridgerates and computers either. ;-)

Another note: A switch hub/router is necessary for a reliable connection
when you are mixing 10/100 Mbit and GigaByte NICs on the same LAN.

Hardware - it's a world of mystery to me.

In my case there was a refrigerator and a microwave between the router and
my wife's computer. So the signal was always a bit sketchy. Even a booster
relay thingy halfway in between didn't help.

The Netgear box worked perfectly for me. I wonder if old wiring would make
a difference. Or maybe the technology has improved - how long ago was it
that you tried the Gigafast.

The other thing I like about the wall plug is that the connection is real
fast - it's like hard wired.

Rocky

The success of this wireless may depend on the wiring. I tried it with
Homeplug from Gigafast and never was able to make any successful
connections. That was one of the first efforts at the technology and my
house is 40+ years old with equivalent wiring. Maybe the devices are more
advanced now and the chances of success are increased.

When I switched to regular wireless it installed with no problems.

Susan:

I had all kinds of problems with wireless in the house. Replaced it with
these:

http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-XE102-Wall-Plugged-Ethernet-Bridge/dp/B000
2IHP
58

Foolproof. Just plug and play. No software. No configuring. Perfect
- like a hardwired connection.

:)

I admit, I was confused! :) Did I use the wrong term?
