Absolutely. Although the external hard drive I've got is only a 5400rpm,
and you can really tell. Admittedly it's only 40gb (it's a laptop drive
with a USB adaprot on the box) and a few years old, but it was slow even
then.

And the extra 70, or 270, if you really need it could come from an extra
external HD I suppose.

Short answer, yes they do. You'll notice the difference between the two
when you're using them. I'd go for the 250 myself, unless you need those
extra 70gb...
