Java is the first language taught to all the students at universities. That
is why Sun fought so hard when MS attempted to acquire it. It was the first
major battle of the open-source wars.

Aha!  That is quite a fine list.  Thanks, Jim.  So many of my 
acquaintances pretend Java is dead.  I am elated to see it is number 1 
in popularity!
