I use: AVERAGE COUNT (and COUNTA) MAX MIN MEDIAN STDEV CORREL IF VLOOKUP (and HLOOKUP) and, of course, SUM, PMT, FV, ROUND, and DATE The stat functions, MEDIAN, STDEV and CORREL were especially useful in my master's thesis data analysis. Otherwise, I find the COUNT and arithmetic stuff - SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX are most useful. The IF and LOOKUP (both V and H) are among my favorite tools. I hope this helps.
