[dba-Tech] Sygate

I guess you have run your TaskManager and checked to see what apps are
sucking up the most resources? If not run taskmanager, select the Process
tab, sort the tasks by CPU usage and if some program is sucking more than
30%, continuously, right-mouse click on the offending task and select 'End
Process Tree'.

If you then check the Performance tab and you should see a dramatic change
on the graphs.

You can always start your computer again and see if this operation restarts
with the same issues....?

Don't know. Or know how to find out. But it was Sygate and not AVG that
was sucking up the cycles.

Did your virus scanner go into real-time protection mode and decided to
re-index your drive?

It might be updating...it might be under attack...are they out to get you...

Why not leave it running and pull the internet cable out.

I don't know WTF it's doing. I turned it off. I'm behind a hardware
firewall in the router. I'll turn it back on again later.

Hummpphh! They get like that sometimes. Do a Ctl-Alt-Del and see what task
manager says about running processes.

Why is Sygate Personal Firewall suddenly taking up 15-25% of my CPU?
