[dba-Tech] Free security software from Microsoft

Well of course *you* would not suffer because your AV software is up to date. Right?

By analogy: if I don't have a driver's license should I be able to get insurance for my car and expect claims to be paid? Or should I in fact not be allowed to drive the car in the first place.

Isn't there some kind of moral reason for them to NOT require genuine MS Windows? By denying it to people who have pirated copies, it stops them from cleaning up their computers, and allows them to continue to try to infect ours. Why should I suffer because someone can't install MS security tools?

Also note that the product requires "genuine MS Windows", which may seem logical and reasonable, but what other MS products might be required later, or might require to be updated, or might be required to run as MS deems appropriate.
