[dba-Tech] Home Network Setup

Hi Arthur

You could look into getting a router that you could install your own firmware.

There are a number of great packages out there and some fellow geeks are really happy with their upgrades. I have not been able to upgrade as my particular DLink router version is not compatible...but versions on both sides are.

Check out the following list and I will post more proven results as they become available.

PS For the best performance a direct LAN cable is much faster than wireless.

Well, gentlemen, I am most pleased to discover that I am not alone in
floundering in this quagmire. That alone gives me confidence to plunge
ahead and damn the torpedoes, as JFK was purported to have said.

Did you know that there's a rule for the pluralization of words such as
"torpedo"? If it concerns music, one simply adds an "S", i.e. Sopranos or
Pianos. If it does not concern music, then the appropriate suffix includes
an "E", except when the root derives from Greek, e.g. hypothesis ->
hypotheses.

I'll check into acquiring a new router. Thanks for that tip.

A.
