It's a false economy. You can use Libre Office, or Open Office or whatever you want, but in the end, if it doesn't do what your customer wants it to do, you'll end up buying MS again.

At the end of the day employees will use whatever the employer puts in front of them. The key here is working with the employees to manage the change. They have a reduced budget and this is one of the easier options. I am sure they could have cut a lot of stuff before pay cuts. Makes it easier to push through when you equate it to pay cuts (<:

It seems in some municipalities, they are forcing their employees to not use Microsoft Office, by saying either use an open source equivalent or take a pay cut. In other words, employees may have start paying for their own software.
