Have you tried Skype? Easy to use, free to cheap, runs on all platforms and requires no social obligations. We use it to contact family and friend.

I have to figure out how to make this work, because a certain client in the
USA wants me to do a webcam interview and I have no idea how to do that..

Call me dinosaur or wimp or whatever, but I have stayed far away from all
the social media. I regard this stuff as fundamentally evil.

But at the same time, it appears that I must open myself to a certain
corporation because I want to. I'm willing to do a podcast with them but am
also unwilling to expose myself for massive public receipts/responses/etc.
I want to be able to state my case and receive only selected responses. Is
there a way to do that? (I'm expecting thousands of responses and I need a
way to filter them.)
