[dba-Tech] cmd window ping no longer works n win10 laptop

After a restart that took long enough to suggest Windows had snuck in 
another update, the ping command in cmd windows fails with "Request 
timed out".

A second disquieting symptom: ipconfig /all shows "Media disconnected" 
for Ethernet and Wifi, even though both are enabled and working.

Other LAN devices can ping this laptop. Browsers and ftp utilities work 
fine.

Turning off the antivirus (BitDefender, no recent updates) does not fix 
the ping problem.

Batch files use ping to verify accessibility before running ftp backup 
scripts.

Any ideas how to fix this?
