The latest technology surrounding networks is SDN. Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is an industry movement for building programmable networks that are flexible and responsive to organizations' and users' needs. OpenDaylight, the largest open source SDN controller, is helping lead this transition.

What this means is that networks can be built that extend across networks, Cloud(s), data stores, sites anywhere on the internet and through routers and accessing any resources will be abstracted from any users. Below is one of the main developers.

This technology will soon be applied across the internet.
