Oh JC, that's awful... I've never had a dog but I did have to watch my best friend's dog die of distemper a few years back (I was caring for it while she was working) and I do know how closely people bond with their doggy friends. And the guilt that makes the grief so much harder to bear (distemper is preventable too.) All my family's cats died of kidney failure and it's not a nice way to go either. Just make him as comfortable as you can and don't let it go on too long no matter how hard it is to make that final decision :( R -----Original Message----- From: John W. This is really a warning to all you dog owners. My two blond labs got Lymes disease, which is a treatable micro-organism spread by fleas. The organism is known to "settle in" the kidneys and my 5 year old blond Lab Boca is dying because his kidneys are failing. We discovered that he had the disease when he stopped eating and we took him to the vet. There is a vaccine to prevent the disease. Why it is not publicized I don't know but I didn't find out until too late. This disease is an epidemic in the northeast and is spreading across the US. If you have dogs and live in an area where the disease is known to exist, think about getting them the vaccine. There is nothing more heart wrenching than watching your dog die knowing that you could have prevented it. 8-( John W.
