Jim, At first glance it does indeed look like what I'm after. But what an obscurity! When I first read your reply I thought "OK, sounds good.. But how do I code event handlers within Outlook?.. Then on pure luck I noticed the "ThisOutlookSession" object in the project explorer of the Outlook VBE, and lo and behold it seems to be the place for event handlers of this type." Bruce, I've got an app that uses the Outlook NewMail event to trigger an action based upon a new message hitting the mail box. Is that what you're looking for? You want the Outlook application's NewMail event (I think another object may have the same event but it's been a while since I wrote this).
