[AccessD] OT: Outlook rules - what does "run a script" do?

Jim,

At first glance it does indeed look like what I'm after. But what an
obscurity! When I first read your reply I thought "OK, sounds good..
But how do I code event handlers within Outlook?.. Then on pure luck I
noticed the "ThisOutlookSession" object in the project explorer of the
Outlook VBE, and lo and behold it seems to be the place for event
handlers of this type."

So thanks Jim, I hope ... This email will the theory anyway.

Bruce

Bruce,

I've got an app that uses the Outlook NewMail event to trigger an action
based upon a new message hitting the mail box. Is that what you're
looking for? You want the Outlook application's NewMail event (I think
another object may have the same event but it's been a while since I
wrote this). HTH,

Faith has no bounds.
I have been trying to get Outlook XP to run a VBA sub when a mail item
arrives... and I have been following the help files.
The sub, which works fine when run by hand, "exports" the incoming mail
item into an Access database. (See moderators, its not really off
topic! ;-^) )
SO how do I get outlook to run the vba code? Using the rule wizard I
have found an action called "run a script". There is no help on it, nor
does the listbox in the popup helper get filled in. Is this what I'm
looking for? Should I stick to the gardening?
