Seth, I'll try this today...your directions are very clear and now it looks simple. I do appreciate the time and effort you have taken to help me out. Shame on Oracle for giving their clients such bad technical documentation. Thanks, Paul -----Original Message----- From: Seth Galitzer [mailto:sgsax at ksu.edu] Sent: Tuesday, April 29, 2003 7:08 AM To: accessd Subject: RE: [AccessD] Where to find Oracle OLE DB Driver Paul, After much deep digging, I finally found a way to get the OUI without downloading or buying a whole Client CD. First, you'll need to get the ODBC driver version 9.0.1 from here: http://otn.oracle.com/software/tech/windows/odbc/content.html Unzip the self-extracting zip file somwhere and remember where you put it. Now, you'll need to download the ODBC driver package for RDB. There is a package that includes the 2.0 version of the OUI available here: http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/rdbodbc/htdocs/winsoft.html Unzip this self-sextracting zip file and look for setup.exe in the resulting folder. This is the OUI. Run it, and click Next on the Welcome screen. On the following screen, next to the Source box, click on the Browse button and browse to the location of the products.jar file in the folder you unzipped the Oracle ODBC driver to. Click Next again and it will start the installation process. After much painful searching, this is the only way I found to get a relatively recent version of the OUI. The reason I indicated you should use the 9.0.7 ODBC client is because the 9.2 requires a newer version of the OUI, which I have yet to find in a similar package. Thanks for nothing, Oracle. Good luck! Seth On Mon, 2003-04-28 at 17:40, Millard, Paul --- Sr. Developer Analyst ---WGO wrote: > Seth, > > Thanks for your link and quick reply. One more thing...the odbc drivers are only 1 mb, however I need the Oracle Universal Installer (OUT) to install these drivers...Reading somes newsgroup messages about OUT on Google...people are saying that OUT is only packaged within their software bundle which is 180MB...YIKES! > > Do you happen to know about OUT and getting this driver installed without installing the works? > > Thanks, > Paul > > -- Seth Galitzer sgsax at ksu.edu Computing Specialist http://puma.agron.ksu.edu/~sgsax Dept. of Plant Pathology Kansas State University _______________________________________________ AccessD mailing list AccessD at databaseadvisors.com http://databaseadvisors.com/mailman/listinfo/accessd Website: http://www.databaseadvisors.com ********************************************************** This message contains information that is confidential and proprietary to FedEx Freight or its affiliates.
