I'll try the monitoring software that Asus shipped with the MB. My conclusions so far are fairly unscientific. I just noticed that the case becomes quite warm to the touch when it's in its desk enclosure, and concluded that I should think about exhausting the hot air somehow. Thanks to all who contributed, for the good advice! And thank you to the list mods for not slapping my wrists for drawing out this thread. As penance for this gesture, I promise to forego this weeks' Friday OT-fest (no, wait, I better see what the topics are first...) -----Original Message----- From: Francisco H Tapia [mailto:my.lists at verizon.net] Sent: Thursday, February 06, 2003 12:21 PM To: accessd at databaseadvisors.com Subject: Re: [AccessD] OT: processor heating Brett, Are you using any other monitoring software or hardware that would lead you to this conclusion? 1st step, add a monitoring software, most motherboard software gives out a display of the internal case temp and the processor temp, with the processor temp a few degrees higher than the case temp. If you find that your processor is running too hot, or that the case temp is too hot, then you need to start looking at possibly adding a blowhole to your case, or buying another case altogether. -Francisco http://rcm.netfirms.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brett Barabash" <BBarabash at TappeConstruction.com> To: <accessd at databaseadvisors.com> Sent: Wednesday, February 05, 2003 7:43 AM Subject: RE: [AccessD] OT: processor heating <snip> : My motherboard came with monitoring software, which I haven't installed yet. : I think that the heat is being properly dissipated from the CPU.
