And I am countering by stating factually that the author of the article did
not take into account that this problem also exists in an ADP.

BUT, what we're talking about is Bloat that "You cannot stop the database
bloat when you compact the database." and in the article it clearly states
that it only applies to .mdb's. The obvious implication being that it does
not apply to .adp's and that the article is only about bloating to a table
in an .mdb that DOES NOT go away with compacting.

So ultimately the article addresses a problem with Access 2002 .mdb's that
does not apply to .adp's.

Charles,

I was under the impression that was the *definition* of bloat. Doris did
point out that she only recovered the space when she copied into a new
container, not just when she closed and reopened the adp.

Doris,

That is not bloat. That is the normal action of Access when it needs
temporary space that it then releases when it is through with it. Bloat is
when it grabs space and does not release it when it is no longer needed.

There may not be any tables but the bloat still applies... I have one ADP
that balloons up to 38MB and then shrinks down to 25MB when I pull
everything into a new container.
