Actually one of the 'stories' I heard was about a port movement, where
someone wanted to get rid of their car....so they catapulted it. I
really don't know how truthful that is, but it is logistically possible.

(When we moved ports from Alameda, CA (which was being shut down), to
Bremerton, WA, the ship actually moved everyone that wanted the ship to
move them.....on the ship. Family, Cars, and I even think some
furniture. (I think at the time I was able to pack everything I owned
in my car...pretty pathetic eh?)).
