I really like the idea of the tabbed form that looks like the dB window. However, I like the fact that you can't do it even more which will actually be support for my argument of reason's why they shouldn't be allowed to go directly into the database window.

I've used it with runtime installations for users who were used to the DB window. They couldn't tell the difference for their purposes.

A possible work around off the top of my head (if no one else can tell you how to do it directly):
In the ADH there's a discussion of presenting a tabbed form that looks exactly like the access database object container.
You could recreate that form,
hide the DB window (set the bypass key to false so they couldn't use that)
set the double click event of the table view list to record: the item being opened, the count of the times opened, and then open the actual table in datasheet view.

Believe me, I know all this. You are preaching to the choir. This is a small company that has their own way of doing things. I've had this argument for over a year now and haven't won. If they pay me to do it, I do it.
So, back to my question, is there a method of tracking how many times a user invokes an object from the database window.
I assume the answer may be no since I can't seem to get an answer.

I am 1000 percent in agreement with you. However, I have a CFO who literally signs the checks and demands direct access to a certain table for him and a couple of others, but wants to know how many times they get into it.

IMHO the database window should only be available in Design mode. Letting the users get at the database window is a serious mistake that you will regret ever making.
