Ummm.... more lines of code means you can pad your bill a bit. :)  I
know, no decent and honest person would do this, unless the client was a
real pain the tuchas.

You did say a "good" reason.  Other than greater flexibility, I can't
really think of one.  TransferText has its limits, your own code does
not.  I've seen cases where transfertext absolutely failed and direct
file I/O was flawless and faster to boot.  I guess that's about it.
