Hi Mark That's an (the) escape character telling that the next character must be understood literally. If this is not included, the slash is interpreted as the date separator and Access replace it with the character from your local setting which often can be a "-" or ".". /gustav > In the format, I see you using a backslash after the dd and the mm prior to > the forward slash, I have never seen this done, what is is for? > Mark >> > Format(Date, "MM\/DD\/YYYY")
