Karen, As you see from the list Dave gives you, there are many flavors of SQL. Which flavor are you most interested in? M$'s Jet SQL for the Jet db engine, or M$'s T-SQL for the SQL Server engine, or ANSI SQL that everybody claims to be compliant with but does not fully implement?
