It doesn't affect security, Marty.  It uses Extended MAPI, which isn't
subject to the security problems with MAPI, so the calls don't trigger
the security flags.  MAPI is where all the security holes have been
found.

One big issue , you might have to deal with, is the wild rolling of the 
eyes of network guys
when you suggest installing a dll affecting security that has not 
recieved an imperitur from the local potentate.
especially on locked down networks.
