I have done it both ways. The backup takes up less room and less time copying. Debbie -----Original Message----- From: John Colby [mailto:jcolby at colbyconsulting.com] Sent: Wednesday, September 17, 2003 10:29 PM To: AccessD Subject: [AccessD] SQL Server database I need to replace my hard disk in my server with a bigger model. This will involve a complete re-install (it's time!). The question is, do I need to do a backup of the SQL Server database or will a new install be able to just use an existing database? John W.
