ROTFL. Yup!

I believe we have some example code hanging around somewhere that shows how
to do this just using code. Have you looked on AccessD's file area?

John,

If it was in my control it wouldn't be there. Unfortunately this file
is imported into another commercial program that uses that field name.
All I am doing is converting the data from one format to another for the
import. The idea was to use a query and a couple of formating functions
to reformat some data from a file downloaded from the web and format it
for input into the program. This was supposed to be a quick project; I
get burned every time I think that way.

Doug

Personally I would recommend getting rid of the # entirely.

Folks,

I am outputting the results of a query into a comma delimited text file
using the transfer text method. Field names are to be put in the first
row. Some of the query fields use assigned names, e.g., Street
#:[fldStreetNo]. The interesting thing is that the "#" in the field
name shows up in the query when the results are viewed but shows up as a
"." when I look at the text file. I put the symbols in quotes they are
not part of the output. Any one have a suggestion on how to get
transfer text to put the "#" where it is supposed to be?

Thanks

Doug
