Well that's a good suggestion -- I hadn't really thought of that. :)

Suggest you have both the control and the straight data entry available. 
I've found that straight date entry is fine if the user knows the date, but
the control is very handy to enter the "first Tuesday in February" - type
dates; otherwise they'll have to dig up a calendar.
