'compact' and 'options' had yielded nothing useful.

Is there any way to bypass the "compact on close" programmatically?
Based on an earlier suggestion, I added code to check "where" the front
end was being opened. If local, fine, otherwise quit. But I'd like the
file to just quit as soon as possible without performing a compact. Is
this possible?
