I realize that. I also realized after my post that they way I did it before was to have a bound picture box in every record for the solid color I wanted to use. This color was more of a status indicator for the whole record - not a highlighter of an individual field. I said all that because I believe it can't be done (in Access 97 anyway). There *is* only one of the textboxes on the continuous form, so when it changes color, you see it in every record. That is the nature of unbound controls and continuous forms. I've done this before for a textbox bound to a field that has the color code in it. What I need is to change an UNBOUND textbox to yellow in a continuous form when it has focus. The problem I get is the textbox changes color for every instance of that textbox in each record (not just the one being edited). Any takers?
