That could very well be so, as the connect string is a semicolon
separated list and text is not quoted. Thus, a semicolon would just be
seen as:

  PWD=;;

which is an empty password.

Nice trick - or whatever you will call it ...

Does anyone know if I set a user's password in the security gizmo as a
semicolon, will it not prompt the user to enter in his ID when the app
opens?
