Bobby, Given the charitable nature of the organizations that the software is intended for, you might consider copyrighting it under one of several open source licenses, and giving it away. The copyright is still vital, because it establishes authorship, and, depending on the type of license, places limits on how the software can be used. Also, note that going open source does not preclude the possibility of making money. The focus merely shifts from selling software to selling services and support around the software. The software then becomes a tool for gaining market penetration, an makes you, the author, the logical person to go to for conversions, training, paid extensions, etc. Open Source Initiative http://www.opensource.org/ Free Software Foundation: http://www.fsf.org/ -Ken -----Original Message----- From: Bobby Heid [mailto:bheid at appdevgrp.com] Sent: Monday, June 06, 2005 11:20 AM To: 'Access Developers discussion and problem solving' Subject: RE: [AccessD] Copyright stuff Thanks all for the links and information, this will get me started.
