I still havent found the origin of the problem but it is related to the windows updates of last night or the SQL SP4. I have workaround the problem by this. Starting from a freshly booted server. Turn of anonymous access for one of the database driven webs/subwebs. Goto the the database driven webpage. A login popup screen asks for the loging >>> ignore it by canceling. The page loads normaly with access to the database. Turn back on the anonymous access so the popup is no longer presented to the user. All website now function again until reboot... So it is clearly a security issue with the IUSR account, I believe there a problem with the synchronisation of this password. Executing "cscript.exe adsutil.vbs get w3svc/anonymoususerpass" to retrieve the password results in a "Parameter anonymoususerpass not set in this node" error. So when deactivating the anonymous option, I supose it load with some other right (everyone???). Posibly some dll with missing IUSR ReX rights. My website (database part) is already down for almost 24 hours now.. -----Original Message----- From: accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Erwin Craps - IT Helps Sent: Thursday, June 16, 2005 2:37 PM To: Access Developers discussion and problem solving Subject: RE: [AccessD] Urgent help neededwithIISserver.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") Already checked those, was already OK. It is however a security issue, turning of anonimous access and loggin on as a administrator works. Afterwards I can put back anonymous on and it still works until reboot. So there must be a DLL with insuffciant rights that needs to be launched with IUSR rights. Some dll must be changed while installing these fixes and lost its IUSR or everyone rights. But which one, I already checked "common Files\system\ado", "common Files\system\msadc", "common Files\system\ole db", "system32\msvbvm50.dll" and "system32\msvbvm60.dll" Erwin -----Original Message----- From: accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Neal Kling Sent: Thursday, June 16, 2005 2:16 PM To: Access Developers discussion and problem solving Subject: RE: [AccessD] Urgent help needed withIISserver.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") Google returned this possibility http://www.developersdex.com/asp/message.asp?p=575&ID=%3C%23J3kRXQyEHA.2 012%40TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl%3E and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/198432/EN-US/ -----Original Message----- From: accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com]On Behalf Of Erwin Craps - IT Helps Sent: Thursday, June 16, 2005 7:43 AM To: Access Developers discussion and problem solving Subject: [AccessD] Urgent help needed with IISserver.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") Importance: High I'm getting desperate over here. Yesterday I installed this mont security fixes on my W2K server. I also took the opportunity to install SQL SP4. >From that reboot on, non of my database driven website no longer functions. For both "JET 4 MDB" and "SQL server" access I get an error on this command where it always used to work before the updates. failing command server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") Retunred error Server object error 'ASP 0178 : 80070005' Server.CreateObject Access Error The call to Server.CreateObject failed while checking permissions. Access is denied to this object. I checked al my NTFS permissons according to the MSKB, but I believe everything is ok. Anyway, it worked for years before this update. Is this a bug in the windows fiexes???? Erwin Craps Zaakvoerder www.ithelps.be/onsgezin This E-mail is confidential, may be legally privileged, and is for the intended recipient only.
