Great! Glad you got it fixed, and I think you might have given me the hint to fix the problem my son has with *his* wireless connection on his XP Home Edition box. :-) Lambert -----Original Message----- From: accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:accessd-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of John W. It turns out that this disables the stuff for the browser service, even if that browser stuff is enabled. The link provided by Jim had me check that (actually just try and open the firewall wizard) and doing so told me that I had this service disabled. I went in to the service and enabled it and voila. I did reboot both machines and now can see the workgroup and the other machines. I seem to remember turning this service off to disable the nagging "you might not be protected" crap. Sigh. John W. Send me the results. Drew -----Original Message----- From: John W. I have one computer that has a 120g external disk that I use for saving and sharing all my source files for installs. I also have a directory on it that I back up my laptop work to. I use DriveCrypt to create 2g encrypted partitions, into which I place all of my work for clients. I can just dismount the drive (files really) and copy the entire file off to back it up. Crude but it works IF I can see the network drive that the backup is going to. I'm getting a little nervous at this point since I can't do that backup. John W. I think it is a result of a Windows Update. I have them downloading and installing automatically. Haven't been able to put my finger on the issue yet. When I figure something out, will let you know. Very frustrating because all of my files are shared from one computer and then backed up from that hard drive.
