[AccessD] OT: can't see workgroup

Hi John:

Have you tried looking in the Group Policy Editor? From that location you
can setup how XP professional runs. A MS upgrade might have turned off a
feature or two and it may take some investigation to find where the issues
are. To fire up the GPE, click 'Start'/'Run' and type 'gpedit.msc'.

I am not sure where but the resolution to your problem should be somewhere
in there.

HTH
Jim

I use the sygate firewall. Nice system. I never had issues with sharing
with it but I have disabled it on both the two systems I am experimenting
with just in case.

Figured so but thought it was worth a shot. The Windows Built in Firewall
too? I had that and Sygate both running on my main machine for months before
I looked at it. Didn't seem to cause any problems. My problems was - and
continues to be the Norton Firewall on one of my other systems - royal pain
in the back side - I have to turn that firewall OFF on that system every
time I first use a mapped drive from another system. I like the Sygate
firewall quite a lot and I really should dump that Norton one and put Sygate
on the other machine as well. Just need to find the time......

Good luck solving your problem.

I wonder, if the software firewalls logging would show your attempts to see
the other systems? Might help to show what is going on? Or maybe the
router's logging function if it has one may shed some light on if the
attempts to see the other systems is getting that far or is being stopped
inside of your individual systems?
