[AccessD] Creating an ADO Data Provider

Hi all

Seeking some advice here ... I read this article on the subject:

because I've never worked with such. 
It seems to be quite some work with Registry entries etc.
The article explains how to do it but not really why.

Why would you go this route? And - perhaps - why not?
